Vivek,

I read this news on your blog and certainly it seems that in the post flood time there were certain cases of unknown most likely viral hemorrhagic fever. I hope in this particular case the serum must have been sent for detailed viral assay.

During my residency in USA, I encountered a young male with splenectomy who within a short span of 3 hours turned completely hemorrhagic in front of my eyes and expired, He was just 25. We all thought it could be Meningococcemia and took appropriate prophylaxis, but blood culture which was meticulously taken was negative and subsequent viral assay were negative, so the cause is still unknown. But such a rapid course was really worrisome.

There are lots of things that human has not understood yet and never will.

Vivekbhai,

Can you do something about such situation? Can you try to convince government to initiate a compulsory procedure to follow in certain cases like this? E.g. some basic tests must be done to the patient. I think, some routines enforced by law should be very helpful for the betterment of the society.

Thank you for sharing a shocking incident with us all.

Chirag
