બિલીપત્રની ત્રણ પાંખડીઓન અગ્નિસ્વરૃપ શિવજીના ત્રણ નેત્રો, શિવજીના ત્રિશૂળ અને જ્ઞાાન- કર્મ- ભક્તિ સાથે સાંકળીને માનવીને શુભ સંદેશ અપાયો છે.
જ્યોતિષશાસ્ત્ર આધારિત વૃક્ષ ઉપાસનામાં બિલીને ચિત્રા નક્ષત્ર સાથે જોડેલું છે.
ગ્રીક પૌરાણિક કથાઓમાં બિલીના ફળને ઇગલ મારમોલિસ- દેવીફળ નામ આપવામાં આવ્યું છે. બિલીનો પૂજન- અર્ચન માટે થતો ઉપયોગ ધાર્મિક આસ્થાનો વિષય હોવા છતાં ઔષધીય વનસ્પતિ તરીકે બિલી ચૈતન્યવૃક્ષ છે તેના ત્રણ પાન જેવી રચના ચૈતન્યવંતી લાગે છે-ચઢાવેલ ખાતર બનાવવા જેવી નથી
